Jim TenBroek played a leadership role in the growth and evolution of Wind Point Partners for nearly 20 years and five private equity funds. Since Jim joined in 1997, Wind Point grew from $215 million of equity capital under management to over $2 billion when he departed in 2016. Before joining Wind Point, Jim was with GTCR after graduating from business school, and led early GTCR investments in Marketing and IT services.
Mr. TenBroek has been a Board member of 17 companies, including two public companies, during his 23 years as an investor. He has successfully led the investment of over $500mm of equity capital, generating over $1B of return and a 2.4x average per investment cash-on-cash return, with four investments returning 5x or more. Those companies, including later stage venture capital, growth equity, and leveraged buyout transactions, have grown both organically and via over 80 add-on acquisitions. Mr. TenBroek’s industry focus has been primarily business, technology and consumer services, including marketing, media, information and tech-enabled business services.
Mr. TenBroek brings broad experience in all aspects of investing and the management of a successful private equity firm. Importantly, he has experience and a successful investment track record in Growth Catalyst Partners’ target industries, with a clear vision for ways to bring exceptional CEO partners and potential leadership to each stage of the investment process, driving portfolio company transformation.
Mr. TenBroek is the former Chairman and current Executive Committee member of the Illinois Venture Capital Association (IVCA). The IVCA membership represents 75 of Illinois’ largest private equity and venture capital investment firms as a lobbyist, information resource and education resource.
Mr. TenBroek earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master in Engineering from Cornell University, and an AB from Dartmouth College.
Mr. TenBroek lives in Lake Forest, IL and is married, with twin daughters age 8. Jim has a variety of interests and activities in sports, the arts, and charities.
